Gentlemen,
Our hospital has seen and tested the Telescope Dog Ramp
and the Petstep ramp.
Easy opening was the first thing we noticed with the
Telescope ramp: 1 step to open, 2 step to close.
The Telescope Dog Ramp is longer, reducing the angle of the
dogs walk up. Telescopes passage is 17 1/2 inches wide, 6
inches wider than Petstep, giving more footing for large
dogs. Telescope has 4 inch railings giving the ramp stability
and preventing falling. In addition, it is carpeted for better
grip, prevents sliding. When putting even the heaviest dogs
in the middle of the ramp it does not bend nor flex. The
front and rear stabilizers insure the ramp won't slide off
the vehicle.
While our first impressions were the Petstep ramp is compact
and well designed, closer observation of this ramp showed
several disadvantages. Opening this ramp requires 6 steps.
Closing it would also require 6 steps. The passage way is
narrow, 11 1/2 inches across at the shortest point. The
surface is molded plastic which is slick and could be
slippery. Petstep's design is very basic, about the same as a
board, flat with no shoulders. Petstep bends under weight and
noticeably flexes.
We feel both ramps are well manufactured, however, the
Telescope is safer and better in all respects.
sincerely,

David M. Green, V.M.D.
